Rental conditions
Everything you need to know before booking your motorbike or scooter at Tropical Riders, Puerto Marina del Este, La Herradura (Granada).
1. Rider requirements

Foreign driving licences
Always bring your original, valid licence plus your ID card or passport.
- EU and EEA licences (including Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein):
- 125 cc scooters: licence A1, A2 or A, or a car licence B held for more than 3 years (valid for riding in Spain only, DGT Instruction 15/C-121).
- Motorbikes over 125 cc: licence A2 or A, depending on the bike.
- UK licences (photocard): no International Driving Permit needed. A car licence (B) is not valid for 125 cc scooters: your licence must include category A1, A2 or A.
- Licences from other countries (for example the USA, Canada or Australia): original licence plus an International Driving Permit (1949 Geneva model, issued in your country) or an official translation (sworn translator or consulate). Your licence must include the motorcycle category A1, A2 or A: a car licence is not valid for motorbikes or scooters. Licences written in Spanish need no translation.
- Non-EU licences are only valid during your first 6 months in Spain.
Without these documents we cannot release the vehicle.
2. Documents at pick-up
ID card or passport, original valid driving licence and a bank card in the rider's name for the deposit. You sign the rental contract and the vehicle condition report.
3. Booking and payment
Book online on each bike's page or by phone/WhatsApp (+34 951 87 87 07). You pay 50 % of the total when booking; the rest is paid when you collect the bike.
4. Cancellations and changes
- 15 days or more in advance: free cancellation, full refund of the amount paid.
- Between 14 and 7 days before: 50 % of the total rental price is retained, which equals the 50 % paid when booking. For example, on a €500 rental, €250 is retained.
- Less than 7 days before or no-show: no refund.
- Bad weather: if the weather makes riding unsafe, you can change the date free of charge. If you cannot come on another date, we cancel the booking free of charge and refund what you paid.

It is blocked on your card before the vehicle is handed over and released within 25 days after the return and inspection of the vehicle. With full coverage insurance the deposit is reduced (see point 6).
6. Insurance
- Always included: compulsory and complementary third-party liability insurance, rider accident cover and 24 h roadside assistance.
- BMW F800 GS: full coverage insurance included in the price, with a €1,000 excess.

Without full coverage, the customer is liable for the total cost of any damage to the vehicle, even if it exceeds the deposit.
7. Mileage and fuel

Delivered with a full tank (or charged battery) and returned the same way. Missing fuel is charged at cost plus a €20 handling fee.
8. Second rider
Scooters: second rider free of charge, as long as they are declared in the contract and identified with their documents and licence (they must meet the same requirements). Large motorbikes: no second rider allowed.
9. Equipment included
- Scooters: rider's helmet included. Passenger helmet, jacket and gloves: €5/day each.
- Large motorbikes: helmet with intercom, jacket and gloves included (on the Harley-Davidson Heritage: helmet, jacket and gloves).
- BMW F800 GS and Harley-Davidson Pan America: CarPlay screen and top case also included.
10. Delivery and collection at your accommodation
Price per trip and per bike, according to the road distance from our base at Puerto Marina del Este:
Each trip is charged separately: delivery (outbound) and collection (return) are two trips. For example, delivery and collection in Nerja: 2 × €20 = €40.

Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Special: no delivery. It is collected and returned at Puerto Marina del Este or in Granada.
11. Opening hours, late and early returns
June–October: every day from 10:00 to 18:00. November–May: Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 15:00.
Late return: 30 minutes' grace; after that, €20/hour for scooters and €80/hour for motorbikes. Unused days due to an early return are not refunded.
12. Where you can ride
Mainland Spain (not Ceuta, Melilla, the Balearic or Canary Islands; bikes may not be taken on ferries). Riding on unpaved tracks and taking part in competitions is not allowed. All bikes are fitted with GPS tracking.
13. Fines, accidents and theft
Traffic fines are paid by the rider, plus a €25 handling fee for identifying the driver. In case of an accident or theft: call us at once on +34 951 87 87 07, fill in the accident report, take photos and, in case of theft, report it to the police within 24 h and keep the keys (without a police report there is no cover).
